Three Stages Of Chiropractic Care And The Importance Of Each

Chiropractic care is a nonsurgical option to remedy many afflictions of the spine, back, nerves and body overall. If you are interested in getting chiropractic treatment for a back affliction, you should know that there are three stages of chiropractic care. Each stage serves its' own purpose, too.

Stage I

In the first stage of chiropractic care, you are a new patient. Your chiropractor takes x-ray views of your back, measures your standing balance with a special scale that looks for body weight placement, and does a visual exam of your spine and back. From the x-rays and exams, the chiropractor develops a treatment plan, and then schedules the number of adjustment visits you will need each week. More severe issues noted by the chiropractor means that you will need to see him/her more often. Less severe issues means that you may only need to schedule one or two appointments a week during the initial treatment period.

Stage II

During the second stage, the chiropractor will take a new set of x-rays to see if there is any progress made. If it looks like you could use some extra help, the chiropractor will add extra treatments, exercises, stretches, and equipment to aid your progress toward better health. Some of the exercises will help strengthen your core and your back, while the equipment helps train the muscles of your neck and back to move into a better position.

Stage III

In this final stage, the chiropractor looks to see how you have progressed. Not everyone will have dramatic or lasting success through chiropractic treatment, which is why this stage exists. For the most part, you will need to return a couple times a month for "maintenance" adjustments to help maintain the progress you have made and prevent your spine from reverting back to what it was before you began any treatment at all. A third and final set of x-rays are taken so that the chiropractor can show you a side-by-side comparison of your x-rays over the whole of your treatment plan.

You may notice that some change has occurred, or you may not have much change at all. However, you did come into the clinic complaining of back pain. If your pain has now ended, and you have felt quite good for some time, your chiropractor considers that a success. The treatment he/she developed for you was to treat your back pain, and so it did. Contact a clinic, like Gerleman Chiropractic Office, for more help.
